So I spent another 4 hours at St. Francis Hospital Women & Children's Services yesterday...with the stomach flu. :( I woke up yesterday and had a poptart...and it all went downhill from there. At first I thought it was just an upset stomach - and then Derrick did his online research and decided it could be the beginning of labor. :) I couldn't keep anything down - not even water - for most of the day...and by 3pm we decided we needed to call the 24-hour emergency line for Dr. Perkins office. I was starting to worry more about Maddie and whether or not she was doing ok / getting dehydrated (because I sure was!). Spoke to Dr. Bell again (same doctor on-call from last Wednesday!) and she said to give it a few more hours (seriously?!) and then just come on in to the hospital. I tried to sleep some more...but it really just got worse. We took the boys to my mom's house - and went straight to the hospital.
I really felt worse once I got there - so I'm glad we ended up going and didn't wait any longer. I had 2 bags of IV fluid (including Zofran for nausea) - and they monitored me and Maddie...I guess they weren't very happy with her reaction times (although her heartbeat was good) - so we had to leave her on the monitor just as long as I was on one. I guess I did have a few contractions when we first got there - but they evened out after I got some fluids. We were there probably 3 hours total - then I got the ok to leave with a prescription for Zofran.
I did feel better - but had terrible cramps most of the night (from dehydration I assume). It was a long night...but I'm feeling much better today. :) I think I'm getting payback for not having any morning sickness during my pregnancy. :) Had some eggs and hash browns for breakfast - so I guess my appetite is back...and Maddie is kicking up a storm - so I think she is happy now too. :)
Here are some photo's from our 2nd visit to St. Francis - hopefully the next time will be when we actually bring her into the world!? :)
You know, I have to laugh...I have really done well with all of the shots, IV's, blood tests, urine tests, cervical exams during this pregnancy. Guess I'm finally growing up after 41 years?! :) I have *always* been less than accommodating when it came to any kind of shots or blood or...anything that involves removing fluid from my body. :) Mom and I were just joking last week about my visits to Dr. Kopecky's office when I was little and had to have shots - you could hear my screams from miles away I'm pretty sure. :) I vaguely remember those visits - that's how traumatic they were for me. :)
And one last thing...a BIG shout out to my husband - who stood in the bathroom and attempted to help me while I threw up all day yesterday (I believe he called it "old faithful" - LOL!) and then cleaned up the bathroom afterwards. Each time. And the most impressive part - when he held the barf bucket at the hospital when I threw up in bed. :) He gets just as lightheaded as I do at the sight of vomit...but he did *such* a good job. :) I guess I'll keep him! :)
oh, you definitely have to keep him!!! He's a star! I am sorry you had such a bad day... now you rest and wait for Maddie to give you the signal.
