Baby Registry.

I've been putting off this post...simply because it took me 2 days to actually recover from last Friday when we actually did our baby registry.  I wasn't quite ready to blog about it!  I had *no* idea it would take so much out of me!  I was exhausted.

We both took the day off - so we could 1) get our registry started together and 2) spend the day together before Derrick left for Spring Break with the boys.  We started off at Babies R Us. ..only because we came to it first on US31. :)  After lots of paperwork (sigh)...we got started with our clipboard (me) and scanner gun (Derrick).  We started off slow...I'll be honest.  We were very picky about what we scanned - and had major discussions about what we should and shouldn't add.  About halfway through the store, we ran into one of the BRU associates...who encouraged us to scan, scan, scan away! She said the more options you have, the better!  So...we did. I think we now have about 40+ blankets on our registry. :)   We ended up spending 2 HOURS there - and a 23-page registry when printed out. :)

I've got to tell you...I made a promise to myself *not* to register for clothes.  All of my friends and baby magazines say "don't do it!!" - that I'll get clothes regardless of what I put on my registry...because people will buy what they think is cute. :)  BUT!  We did make an (unplanned) detour through baby clothes-land...and I have to tell you...they have the cutest stuff at BRU!  They carry the brand Koala Baby - just adorable stuff!  And lots and lots of tutu's!  Koala Baby also carries other stuff - like blankets (see my registry :)), bedding, wall decor.  Really cute stuff.  I've decided BRU definitely has the best baby clothes.  BRU also carries this new bottle line called Tommee Tippee - supposed to be the *new* it bottle...so of course I added to my registry. :)  What the heck!

Has anyone heard of Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether?  It's *the* hot item on amazon.com. :)  And it's $22.99.  Yup, on my registry! :)

I did bring my camera (of course) - but in all of our intense focus on scanning...we didn't take many pictures.  This is one of me at the "Expectant Parent" parking space out in front:

Next we headed to Buy Buy Baby.  There we completed yet *more* paperwork with a super friendly lady - who then proceeded to ask "where do you want to get started?!" like she was going to escort us the entire way.   "Um, well..." I muttered as we headed towards the monitors...was she seriously going to follow us all the way thru!?  After pretending to be interested in the AngelCare Monitor (because I had already registered for it at BRU) she finally went to find the person in the breast pump area so they would be ready when we came to "her" area.  Seriously?! :)  So we dumped her - and proceeded to scan away...

Including in the breast bump area...where our "hostess" for that area was busy with someone else.  YES!!  So we scanned the Medela model (supposedly the best - and @$325 - it darn well should be!) and some "stuff" we thought we might need and moved on to bibs.

As we scanned 10-20+ bibs (you'll see - just check out our registry...I'm pretty sure there are about 100), we heard a little voice say..."HI!  I just checked your registry and noticed that you forgot a few items in the breast pump area - would you mind if I added some nipple shields and nipples to your registry?!  You'll need them".  Ok, C.R.E.E.P.Y!   They were like "stalking" what we scanned...while were still there!!   I just smiled and told her of course she could add whatever she wanted to my registry!  Made her day. :)  Yikes.

I was starting to wear down at this point...and we kind became less interested than we had been at the beginning.  At this point it was almost 1pm and we were starving.  So we scanned a few more items (still couldn't find my Snug-A-Bunny bouncer seat)...and wrapped it up.

I will say that the BBB gift bag for registering was a lot nicer than BRU.  If it were a contest. :)  We got some cool samples (including a bottle, diaper and pacifier!) and current issues of baby magazines!  (However, we did get a $10 gift card at BRU.)

Here I am at *their* Expectant Parent parking spot! :)

We had a quick lunch at Johnny Carino's - and finished up our registry bonanza at Target (because, as Derrick says, who *doesn't* like Target?!).  We also got a $20 gift card for opening a registry - so what the heck!? :)  It didn't take long there - they really don't have a lot in the store (mostly online)...so it was quick and painless.  Lots of socks, bodysuits and shoes. :)  I was hoping to find a high chair I liked here - but still haven't found one yet.  And *still* no Snug-A-Bunny bouncer (never fear - added it to the registry online!) :).  After picking up some toliet paper and Easter sugar cookies (my obsession at the moment), we went home and crashed.  THAT was insane!!

Forgot one last pic...this was at BRU - and yes, we did register for it. :)  I'm sure that those of you that know me well would agree any baby of mine should have this. :)
